THE JANITOR SELECTED FOR RAINDANCE 2026

The feature film The Janitor, a production by Fidelio Films, Región 4 and Lab C, is part of the Official Selection of the 2026 Raindance Film Festival and it has been nominated to the Discovery Award for Debut Feature (The Elisar Cabrera Award) at the same event.

Founded in 1992, Raindance is one of the UK’s most important independent film festivals and a leading international platform for new cinematic voices and contemporary auteur filmmaking. Every year, it brings together filmmakers, producers, distributors, and specialized press from around the world in London.

Directed by Mauro Mueller and David Figueroa, and starring Humberto Yáñez, Luisa Huertas, Mercedes Hernández, Antonio Becerril, and Leonardo Alonso, among others, the film will screen on June 20 and 21, 2026, at Vue Piccadilly as part of the festival’s program. It is a contender for The Elisar Cabrera award, one of the festival’s key awards for first-time feature filmmakers. It recognizes bold, original independent cinema that demonstrates a distinctive voice, creative risk-taking, and strong social or artistic impact.

With a runtime of just over 90 minutes, the film follows Ricardo, a janitor nearing 80 years old who tries to balance his job at an elementary school with caring for his ill wife. As he deals with this situation, a series of obscene graffiti begin appearing more and more frequently around the school, and the responsibility of finding the culprit ultimately falls on him.

Part of the film’s team will be present at the festival, including the directors and Lab C producer Rodrigo Glenn.
